सूटकेस

मैं ख़ुशी से भरपूर था

अपने शोख़ रंग के साथ और अचम्भित भी

विवाहोत्सव के दौरान, मैं भरा रहूंगा

पोशाकों और अन्य सौंदर्य प्रसाधनों से

यह सूटकेस विवाह के अवसर के लिए ही था

विवाह के शुभ दिन

सूटकेस की खुशी का ठिकाना न था

पोशाकों और आभूषणों से भरपूर

थिरक रहा था कक्ष में

और तब, यहाँ वहां

अंत में ठहराव पाया ससुराल के घर में

एक व्यक्ति , जोकि उस महिला का पति है

झगड़ता है उस से बात-बेबात

वह अंदर जाती है

मुझे उठाती है और भर देती है

मुझे अपने ज़रूरी सामान से

और, अरे! वह तो घर से बाहर निकल रही है

पति मुझे पकड़ लेता है

ले जाता है घर के अंदर जबरन

औरत ने झपटा मारा उसके हाथ पर

और बाध्य किया उसे मुझे छोड़ने के लिए

मैं असमंजस में था , क्या मैं

भीतर की राह लूँ या बाहर की

एक दिन, मैंने महसूस किया

पति का जानवरों जैसे बेरहम बर्ताव

औरत को मैंने खामोशी से पड़े देखा

और पति समेट रहा था

उसके शऱीर को मुझ में

और धकेलता हुआ ले गया मुझे /

 SUITCASE

How happy I was

Bright in colour and all agog

There is marriage and I will remain

Filled with clothes and other objects

Of beauty.

It was a marriageable suitcase.

On the day of marriage,

The suitcase was bubbling with joy.

Filled with clothes and jewellery

Dancing in this room

And then, that,

And finally resting in the in-laws house.

Every day, two or three times,

She comes and picks me up,

And opens,

And then places her clothe in me.

I can hear some talk

Which is not clear.

A man, who is the lady's husband

Fights her over nothings,

She goes in,

Picks me up and fills me

With her necessary things

And lo, she is moving out.

The husband catches hold of me,

And forces me inside the house,

The lady clutched his hand

And forced him to leave me.

I was not sure, whether I was

To remain inside or move out.

One day, I found myself

Handled brutally by the husband

It was night,

I saw the lady lying silently.

And the husband was packing her

Body in me, and wheeled me away
